Former PTU V-C Dr. Rajneesh Arora arrested for irregularities and financial bungling-The Vigilance Bureau arrested the former Vice –Chancellor Dr Rajneesh Arora of IK Gujral Punjab Technical University on Monday, 8th Jan. He arrested for his alleged involvement in financial irregularities worth several crores of rupees, irregularities in appointments and administrative lapses during his tenure.
A special Vigilance court in Kapurthala sends him for four days vigilance custody for further interrogation. The whole case is the result the findings of an inquiry report by former IAS officer SS Dhillon. The information also include that the probe looked into complaints that the Delhi campus of PTU incurred an expenditure of Rs 1.65 crore and candidates with links to the RSS were made faculty members.
The case has registered by Vigilance Bureau against Dr Rajneesh Arora and 9 others under Sections 409 and 120-B of the IPC and Section 13(1)(d) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The other nine persons include in this case are Dr Nachatter Singh, Dr RP Bhardwaj, Vishwadeep, Marjinder Singh Bedi, Sumeer Sharma, Dhirender Tayal, Praveen Kumar and Ashish Sharma.
The case started in May 2017 when PTU V-C KS Pannu ordered for finding the cause of irregularities in varsity during SAD-BJP regime.
And in July 2017, the former IAS Officer SS Dhillon submits his reports in which he showed the former V-C Rajneesh Arora guilty for irregularities in appointments and financial bungling.
Then in September 2017, Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi writes to chief minister Capt. Amarinder Singh for the registration of FIR against Dr. Rajneesh Arora.
In December 2017, CMO writes to Vigilance Bureau Director to probe this case.
And finally on 8th January, 2018 the former Vice –Chancellor Dr Rajneesh Arora of IK Gujral Punjab Technical University arrested from his house in Amritsar.
